The board of Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County is hosting a “Meet your Legislator” on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 11 am at the Welcome Center in Jefferson. Representative Phil Thompson and Senator Jerry Behn both were invited and have committed to attending.
Thompson is beginning his second year as Greene and Boone County’s elected Representative. Behn has represented Greene, Boone, and a small portion of Hamilton Counties for the past 23 years.
They will review outcome recommendations of interim committee studies, as well as provide an overview of what may be expected in the upcoming legislative session which begins on Jan. 14.
Constituents are invited to attend this planned one-hour interaction and are encouraged to bring issues and concerns they would like addressed in the upcoming Legislative session.
Rick Morain, community leader, and former owner and editor of the Jefferson Bee and Herald will serve as moderator for this community dialogue time.
This is the second year the Thomas Jefferson Gardens board will sponsor these forums. The board continues to remind the community of the philosophy of Thomas Jefferson, the primary creator of the Declaration of Independence. His values regarding an open government for the people, by the people has spurred the board to once again coordinate these interactive forums.
Light refreshments will be served by the hosts.
Paton-Churdan and Greene County students are encouraged to attend and will be recognized by the moderator. Reservations are not required.
